What this tool does
This calculator shows the major astrological transits to your birth chart over the next 12 months: the dates when the slow moving planets, Jupiter, Saturn, Uranus, Neptune and Pluto, form a conjunction, opposition, square, trine or sextile to your Sun, Moon, Mercury, Venus and Mars, and to your rising sign and Midheaven if you give a birth time and place. Every date is calculated astronomically for your own chart, and the written reading explains the key periods of your year and the openings to look out for.
When to use it
Use it at the start of a new year, around your birthday, or whenever you are weighing up a big decision and want to see the shape of the months ahead. Unlike a Sun sign horoscope, which is the same for everyone born in a month, these transits are personal to your birth date, and to your birth time and place if you add them. It is meant as a prompt for reflection and planning, not a prediction.
How it works
You choose your date of birth and, if you know them, your time and town of birth. The tool calculates your birth chart, then follows each slow planet day by day through the coming year and finds the exact dates it reaches an aspect to one of your chart points. Because planets appear to move backwards for part of the year, some transits are exact up to three times, and each date is listed. Transits already in effect today are marked. Place names come from GeoNames.
